Eretmocerus eremicus

Eretmocerus eremicus is a small wasp that can parasitize Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Bemisia tabaci in the initial stages of development. The adult eremicus is completely yellow with greenish eyes, and can control both species of whitefly. Unlike Encarsia Formosa, it consists of male and female individuals. The visible effect of the feeding process is weaker, but this insect is much more adapted to elevated temperatures and, in general, to periods with a wide thermal range. Infected whitefly eggs become amber in colour and slightly convex, in addition, one can observe the gradual development of adult Eretmocerus, which exits through a round hole. An adult female, under optimal conditions (25 ° C), can survive for dozens of days, during which she lays 50 or more eggs. The egg is laid in the victim’s body and when the larva matures it leaves the host’s body killing it. EremiPAK is available in bottles of 3000 or 15,000 pieces containing pupae, from which adults appear after a short period of time. The implementation programs are based on several repeated evictions with a total concentration of 12 to 20 individuals per m2 or more, depending on the situation. To achieve pest control in the greenhouse, it is necessary to take into account the progressive spread of parasitoids.

Application of Eretmocerus eremicus:
Usually Eretmocerus is used proactively through several introductions with an interval of 1 week for 2-3 individuals per m2, it is desirable to dose Eretmocerus in portions into special boxes of 50-100 pupae and hang these boxes every 10-15 metres on plants. The introduction of Eretmocerus into the foci of whitefly in a ratio of 1:5  justifies itself.
