Phytoseiulus persimilis

Phytoseiulus persimilis is a predatory mite that is used to protect against the red spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) of various greenhouse and field crops, for example, strawberries, peppers, eggplants, pumpkins and many others.

Adults have a typical pear-shaped bright orange body, very mobile, and are only slightly larger in size than spider mites. Early development is very dynamic and lasts less than 10 days at a temperature of 20 °C, although under certain conditions it may take almost 18 days for an insect to reach maturity. The entomophage has a good ability to search for food and actively move around, especially when there is a shortage of live food, even though the leaf cover may limit the speed of its movement. Insects for breeding are taken from the southern regions of Italy and demonstrate high efficiency even in harsh climatic conditions

Phytoseiulus persimilis is supplied in bottles (FitoPAK2000) in vermiculite or sawdust. It is recommended to release insects on plants in the early period, immediately after the first signs of a pest attack are detected.

Application of Phytoseiulus persimilis:

Phytoseiulus is used in combination with other acariphages (Amblyseus andersoni, Neoseiulus californicus) or as an independent means of protection. It works well in the foci of spider mites and, when released in a ratio of 1:20, cleans the foci for 2 weeks. The preventive norm is about 20,000 predator individuals per 1 hectare of culture every 2-3 weeks.
