The size of an adult is 2-3 mm, the colour is an alternation of yellow, black and brown colours. The optimal operating temperature range is wide enough: 15-36 degrees. Adults tolerate low temperatures and can survive at -5°C for seven days.

The development cycle takes about 12 days, after which the females of the Habrobracon begin to actively search for a victim for parasitizing and laying eggs. An egg measuring 0.52×0.12 mm is usually attached to a paralyzed larva or next to it to provide the offspring with a food base.
